Leader
Always use monofilament
line for the leader. The strength of the leader should
be less than the pole line. For example if your leader
is rated at 10 -15 lb test the pole line should be
between 20 to 30 lb test. Retie the pole line knot
frequently to prevent fatigue and strip of several
feet of pole line each time the knot is retied.
When fishing water
that is filled with obstructions use the Salamander
Sinkers System™
. This method will allow you to spend your
time fishing instead on tying terminal tackle. Tie
your hook on the leader with your favorite knot and
store it in an individual plastic bag. When the leader
breaks of the sinker simple remove a replacement from
the plastic bag and tie it on the line.
When
the leader breaks off insert the loop of the knot
through the loop of the sinker swivel then pull the
hook through the knot loop, then take out the slack
as shown above. Use the Salamander Sinkers
System™ and save time
on your next fishing trip by constructing leaders
with hooks before you arrive at the water. Depending
upon the fishing conditions you may want to make a
dozen or more leaders before your next trip. Be sure
to store each leader in its own separate contain or
plastic bag to prevent tangling.
