Salamander Sinker Enhances Carolina Rig fishing

Salamander Sinkers incorporated the best features of the Carolina Rig and improved on them to introduce a new fishing system that will catch more fish and save the angler time and money. The soft plastic body absorbs the shock of bumping up against obstructions on the bottom such as rocks or stumps. Now anglers can feel the distinct action that occurs when a fish strikes the bait.

The traditional egg shaped lead sinker is replaced by a snag resistant, lead free, weight adjustable tubular sinker. This design reduces line fray caused by the egg sinker sliding on the pole line. A leader is used to give the bait independence from the sinker. The length of the leader is usually 18" to 48" depends on the preference of the angler and fishing conditions. A styrofoam device is sometimes attached to the bait in order to keep it off the bottom and make it more visible to fish.

We recommend braided (no stretch) line for your pole preferable 30 lbs. This line will result in better contact with the sinker and will allow the angler to pull the sinker free of obstructions in heavy current. For the leader we recommend a line that stretches such as monofiliment 6 - 15 lb test which allows the fish to draw a lighter bait into its mouth and results in a better hook up.
